Blood testing for diseases
OK! I'm going to sit down and try to remember all this now.
Regular blood testing: You need the RED TOPPED tubes for this, and a regular 3 ml syringe (minimum), and we like to use the 1/2" or shorter needles. This appears to be the cheapest Red Top Tubes: http://www.scbt.com/datasheet-359049.html or http://www.amazon.com/Vacuette-Evacuated-Blood-Tubes-Activator/dp/B0018EHISY We then send the tubes to Pan American Lab: http://www.pavlab.com/services/index.html or to WADDL - http://waddl.vetmed.wsu.edu/home. Follow their procedures on packaging and shipping. They need about 1mL of blood for all their tests. WADDL hangs on to their blood samples for a few months so if you need something else tested, they can do that for you. For G6S testing: You need the PURPLE TOPPED tubes for this, and a regular 3mL syringe - get at least 2mL blood for this. This is the cheapest I'm finding: http://www.scbt.com/datasheet-359076.html The G6S needs to be submitted to Texas A&M. Website for that test: http://tvmdl.tamu.edu/tests_services/test_info.php?test=G6S-mutation,-Caprine-%28SNP-qPCR%29&unit_id=907&unit_effdt=02-JUN-10 Hope that helps. |
